Frequently Asked Questions

Scalp Micropigmentation

1

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp micropigmentation is a process by which natural or pathological balding or hairline recession is reversed through the use of biological pigments placed in the epidermal layer of the scalp, similar to tattooing. The pigments used in micropigmentation are usually biological, and are carefully selected to ensure that they mimic one’s natural look as much as possible.Hairline recession and balding are biological processes that are caused by many factors. However, people who suffer from them may end up having their self-esteem affected. Micropigmentation is one of the many methods of restoring a more youthful look as far as scalp hair is concerned.

2

Is Scalp Micropigmentation a tattoo?

Scalp micropigmentation can be thought of as a special type of tattoo, different from the regular tattoos offered out there. Although tattooing and scalp micropigmentation share some elements, it does not mean that they are the same.It would be unwise for an individual to visit a regular tattoo parlor to get scalp micropigmentation; the results are likely to be less than stellar particularly if the tattoo artist is not very good. Scalp micropigmentation is a type of tattoo, but requires a lot more skills, training and the use of specialized equipment compared to regular tattooing.

3

What is the cost of the procedure?

The cost of this procedure will vary according to the client’s needs and preferences.

4

What is the duration of the treatment process?

It takes around three to five hours (in the first session) for carrying out the 3D SMP procedure. In the second sitting you’ll have to spend nearly two to three hours. We also offer a 6 month guarantee period for touch-ups, fading or hairline altering procedures.

5

Can anyone tell that I have had the SMP procedure?

We offer an unimaginable, authentic and unique look to our clients. Hence, until you disclose that you have undergone the procedure, no one will ever be able to make out. You can always check out the before and after images of our clients to understand better.

6

Is the treatment effective on lighter skin tone, brown or blonde hair?

Yes, we can easily blend pigments to match your exact hair color. After the procedure, you’ll notice a bit or redness for around two to ten hours, depending on the type of your skin. However, the desired color will come out in as many as one-two weeks.

7

Does the pigment used during the procedure change or fade over time?

This is entirely dependent on the individual. However, often the procedure is impacted by sun as well as your own dermal collagen microstructure. Apart from this, genes also impact the life-expectancy of the procedure. Sunlight’s radiation breaks the ink, which further dissolves within your skin as a result the procedure may either last for an extended period of ten to fifteen years or only for around five years. Additionally, your skin’s rejuvenation and the amount of time your tissues take for healing are some of the other factors that impact the procedure. Clients must also understand that their body may reject the ink as it views it in the form of a foreign object. This is precisely why we place extra ink using our advanced techniques and applications. As a result, our clients experience little to no fading with time and acquire authentic and natural looking hair easily.

8

How long is the healing process post treatment?

We have created a specific post care protocol for our clients, which they must follow immediately after the treatment and even later. However, as far as healing is concerned, it would depend on your own healing capacity. Your hair will appear red post the treatment, which will eventually go away after a day’s time. Between sessions is approximately 1-2 weeks.

Who is a candidate?

There are a few misconceptions, the biggest being that it is only for individuals with severe hair loss. Although these clients can benefit from this procedure immensely, individuals looking to add depth and color will find great value in this permanent makeup procedure. It is also a great choice for those wanting to correct their brow shape after years of follicle damage due to various epilation methods.

3

What if you have an existing tattoo?

If you have had your brows done elsewhere previously, you will be required to submit a photo in natural lighting without any make up. I will determine whether you are a candidate.

4

Do my brows need to be shaped prior?

Absolutely not, it is desirable to have as many natural hairs as possible to achieve a natural look.

5

Can I return to work the following day?

Yes, swelling and redness will subside within 24hrs. The color of your brows will appear dark for the first few days but will soften.

6

Is it permanent?

Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because pigment is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

7

How long is the procedure?

The appointment will take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on the brow shape and amount of work required.

8

How often will I need a touchup?

It depends a lot on how your skin holds pigment, medications you may take and your lifestyle. After the first appointment, it is highly recommended that you follow up with the 6-8 week touchup since there are no guarantees how your brows will heal. After that appointment, you may need another touchup in 1-3 years.

9

How long is the healing process?

Approximately 7-10 days. Could be longer depending on how your skin heals. Clients are provided aftercare instructions and products for the best results.
